Alvin is a friendly guy who has lived his whole life outside before he came to the shelter. His previous foster said when hanging in the house with them he was a total couch potato. He also gets along with dogs and cats as long as they are social and friendly. He needs that special someone to show him all the ways of indoor living! If you have the time to give this guy a chance to blossom in a home environment please come visit him and give him a chance! He does need to be in a home with children 12 yrs and older.

He finds the most joy by going on walks outside, going in the car, and playing with big jolly balls. He has been such an easy transition into my life, very respectful in the house, knows what he should and shouldn't touch, and is always by your side. Apollo is a protector; he would be a great companion for an older person but also would be perfect for anyone looking for a best friend. As I said before, he shines in the car; when he puts his head out the window, you can see that he is so happy. From what I can tell, he wasn't that used to the leash and walking on it, but every day he gets better and is such a joy to watch experience his surroundings. When he needs to go out, he will politely stand by the door and wait patiently; not to mention he is so good when it comes to leaving for work. When she was rescued we were told she is a blue heeler, but I suspect she is a mix, perhaps with a beagle, as she has the ears and howl of a beagle. Bela Jean is very cuddly and affectionate with humans. She wants nothing more than to be in your lap or tucked close by your side. However, she can at times be possessive and has recently taken to occasionally resource guarding her people from other dogs. Bela Jean is house trained, but we do leave puppy pads available through long work days, which she will occasionally use. Bela Jean does pretty well on a leash and loves her trips to the vet. She will bark at cats. Bela Jean is great with children, especially if they throw a squeaker ball or run and let her chase them. Her foster said she is super friendly, loves balls, run and chase games, and booty scratches. She just needs someone to invest in giving her all the love and guidance she deserves!

Chowder is a chatty gentlemen who loves people and really enjoys being around other dogs. He likes to lean against his people's legs and tilts his head back to make sure you're still there to pet him. His foster noted that Chowder has separation anxiety that they were working on. I am heartworm positive, but that's okay, the shelter is taking me through the treatment process!

Cici is very sociable and loveable and has lots of pizzazz that is the hallmark of the puggle. If you're looking for a smaller sized squishy friend, Cici is ready to party!

Cleo is a friendly younger dog who is pretty nervous here at the shelter. She is curious and has enjoyed meeting dogs here at the shelter.

Cloud is a young dog who is still learning a lot about the world. He's a very gentle dog who is slowly making friends here at the shelter.

Once she knows that you're her person, she gives all the love that her little body can hold, and is happiest when she's right at your side, snuggled up in your arms. We need to give him up because he has gotten super anxious in the apartment and when we take him on walks (barks and lunges at other people, dogs, bicycles) and has started resource guarding. He has been around cats without incident, we don't know how he is with children and he used to be friendly with dogs (but we don't have any others and as stated he barks and lunges now). Kyle is our longest term canine resident, but luckily he lives in a foster home and thrives on his routine there. Though he doesn't know his star sign, Kyle thinks he is probably a Virgo; he likes order and predictability! He knows just when it is time to go to his crate or outside for his walk, and he'd probably send you a calendar invite for those events if he could. Kyle is incredibly affectionate with his people, wanting to give kisses and sit in their laps. He makes some very funny noises, often sounding like the grouchy old man he is on the inside. He is quite smart and quick to offer a paw in exchange for a treat. Except...it better be the kind he likes, or he'll spit it out. Kyle lives with a male dog and two cats in his foster home. His foster reports that he mostly co-exists and doesn't care much to play with his dog sibling. They like people but do best with a gradual warmup. They are a little too energetic with kids but can be trained. They do well with other animals as long as there is an expectation set and gradual warmup. They do well with indoor cats but if they see any outside they react to them as if they are prey. Leia loves to play Fetch and carry logs around. Stella is really doting on the inside cats to the point of grooming them. Lexi is a beautiful, gentle girl looking for a patient, loving home. She’s a bit shy at first, but she blossoms quickly with a calm approach and high-value treats! ** In a foster home; please call 812-349-3492 for more information** Lima Bean went from shut down and timid in the shelter to a couch potato who loves finding a comfy spot with the pillows, endless toys, and wrestling with her foster brother. Lima Bean has gone three out of five days with no potty accidents and is working hard on keeping that streak going as she learns that potty happens outside. She has learned sit and come and is very smart - she catches on quickly! When she has shown interest in chewing things like furniture or shoes, a stern no and replacement with a toy has done the trick. She has seriously built her confidence over a few short days, learning to climb the stairs, go in her crate, and play tug with her foster brother. Lima needed a slow introduction to her foster brother, but now she is eager to chase, play, and cuddle. Lima Bean is very afraid of the outdoors and is struggling to walk successfully on the leash - however she has made great progress with getting on her halter and feeling comfortable with the leash on. Now we just need to master walking! She is afraid of people, dogs, and cars on walks and will either pull and bark or flatten herself on the ground. We are working hard to adjust her to the scary noises and sounds of the outside and she shows so much promise after adjusting quickly to her harness, leash, and outdoor potty breaks. Lima really came to life with her foster brother Milo and seems to feel more confident when he's around, showing her the ropes. She is the sweetest little goof. She'll need someone with experience with puppies and leash training, but besides that she'll make a great companion - she loves to get extra pets and lovin and is eager to learn and spend her energy with another dog friend!

Since then, Luigi has been coming out of his shell more each day. He's shy at first, but once he warms up, this "lap dog' will show you just how much love he has to give (hint: it's a lot of love). Here's what his foster family has to say: Luigi is a great dog. He's a champion snuggler and a real velcro dog. He follows us so closely that he gives us "flat tires" in our slippers. But he also knows how to read the room -- he gets along really well with our old cranky dog and knows when to give her space. He's shown no signs of guarding his people, food, or toys. His high food motivation and intelligence makes training a breeze. Luigi really enjoys getting his commands right and hearing "good boi!" He knows "sit", "stay", and "leave it". We are working on reliable recall and walking at heel. On walks, Luigi doesn't pull -- he prefers to chug along at a steady pace, sniffing and checking his pee-mails. He's solidly muzzle trained, which every vet and nail trimmer will appreciate. Luigi is reliably house-trained and crate-tolerant. When we need to leave, we give him a frozen, stuffed kong and he's content to work on that. At night, he sleeps quietly at the foot of the bed on his mat. All in all, he's an easy dog that loves a routine and to be around his people. She is incredibly friendly, social, and loves nothing more than making new human friends and soaking up affection. She absolutely loves the baby pool and entertains everyone by leaping and splashing with great gusto. She can be a bit shy, but quickly shows her playful side when toys are introduced.

Misty is an energetic young dog who enjoys playing and exploring the yard. She has displayed herding-style play behaviors and would do best with someone familiar with managing that.

Myles is a shy but very sweet young dog who enjoys meeting other dogs. Myles also knows several commands! Spend some time with him and he will show you his high five! He loves to go for a good, long walk and check in with his human to make sure they're enjoying the scenery as much as he is.

Red is a super sweet girl who came to the shelter extremely underweight with nine newborn puppies. Her foster family reported that she thinks she is a lap dog and loves meeting new people including school age children. She is extremely well house-trained and knows basic commands like sit, shake, and stay. She is still working on greeting people politely while containing her joy and is fearful of the vacuum cleaner, people holding sticks, and loud noises. Red is super active and affectionate. Loves cuddling and going on long walks. Housetrained and does a good job of telling her people when she needs to go out.

And is very well kennel trained. We'd also like to include that he has no adoption fee, we're just trying to get him to a good home with folks who will appreciate, love and cuddle him. Red is currently roommates with a cat and dog. He needs to be supervised when interacting with the cat, he wants to play but is strong and clumsy. He will thrive in a home with a backyard and older kids. We do a lot of walks and he loves to play catch. Red is a stick connoisseur and loves to break them down! He may be allergic to peanut butter. As long as you let him out regularly he is housetrained; however, he hasn't figured out how to let you know he needs to go. Red is a fun dog and loves to cuddle but unfortunately we are allergic to him. He's about 65lbs but has short stubby legs. He kind of looks like Scrappy Doo! Ruby is a sweet dog who is very nervous here at the shelter. Her owner reported she did well with children but would be anxious around strangers. Once she gets comfortable with you she is all zooms and enthusiasm. She loves to roll in the grass and entertains herself happily with soft toys in the yard.

From his previous owner: Saint would benefit off living in a home with a backyard and somewhere he can run around. He has a lot of energy and loves people and attention.

Tonks is a beautiful, smart girl! Her previous owner shared that this lovely pup is housetrained, walks great on a leash, and does well with other dogs. She is overjoyed whenever she encounters a new toy and happily entertains herself with plushies. Her foster moms report that she is an excellent study buddy and will sit and watch a movie on the couch like one of the girls any time. They're crossing their fingers that someone will be lucky enough to adopt her soon!

Tucker is a spunky dog who along with some fantastic hair has previously lived with other dogs and cats!

Zeke has a habit of barking at new people, but has not been aggressive. It takes time to earn his trust, but it is doable. Zeke is an energetic, playful boy and incredibly snuggly once he trusts you. He deeply loves his chosen people. He is not leash trained, but he is eager to please and I believe he could learn with patience and trust. Zeke does have issues around food insecurity that come out in the form of chewing on things he should not. This has improved in the time we’ve had him with consistent meal times and amounts of food. He should not be homed with cats, as he will chase and bark at them. Introductions with new dogs should be done in a controlled manner as Zeke has been attacked by a much larger dog. Zoe does need a special home where she can be the only dog. Unfortunately, she does not get along with other dogs, so a home without other dogs would be the safest and happiest environment for her.
